What do I need to know about communications?
Just Between Friends gives you and your group a convenient and flexible communication tool. With or without membership management you may establish groups and subgroups for target communications.
Communicators may be set up, as admins in the system, to have permissions to talk to your whole group or only a very finite subgroup such as “Mrs. Smith’s 1st grade classroom parents”.
By creating and/or modifying an invitation code you may ask parents to put themselves in the specific groups they wish to receive communications.
Examples of some groups include: Homerooms, Sports activities, Volunteer groups and Grades.
The template function allows you to customize the look and feel of your communications (notices). In addition you may copy tables and their content from MS Word to create a newsletter look and feel. Then insert images for that personalized touch. Using this feature in combination with templates and you will have created a unique and personalize communication specifically for your group.
Note the following points for communication:
When a notice is sent it is automatically posted to a start page and the calendar without any additional effort
The households in your system must have real email addresses in order to receive communications
If you wish to communicate with specific groups such a grades you must create the group and “link” children or adults (depending on the group) to that group
If you wish parents to put themselves into the communication groups you create you must: Create the group(s) >>> Attach the group to the invitation code >>> Test the invitation code >>> Distribute the invitation code to the parents
You will often see that communications are referred to as notices
